It is Easy to Whiten Teeth at home Naturally, using the 9 methods that I have listed below.
Why do my teeth turn yellow?
Teeth come in 4 main layers as I have stated in my other post Review on OraWellness Remineralizing Tooth Whitening Powder
Enamel is the strongest part of the tooth, and is naturally white! Once it wears off, the body does not produce to replace it.
Over time, due to factors like aging, wear and tear, or eating too much acidic substance, your enamel begins to wear away.
The layer below the enamel is called the dentin and is yellowish-brown in appearance. This is what you see, causing you to feel unhappy why your teeth are not white. You are looking at the dentin, which the enamel has eroded to reveal.
There are 2 types of stains
a. Extrinsic – This type can be removed easily and not permanent.
Extrinsic tooth stains are most commonly caused by the diet that you have, like coffee, tea, and red wine, and by the use of tobacco products.
So these types of stains are superficial on the surfaces, they appear yellow but they can be removed or lightened.
b. Intrinsic – This type of stain is permanent, normally caused by age, medications, and diseases. The stains may seep past the enamel, and go below the surface and may only occur in small areas.
You have to go to the dentist for treatments like bleaching because they are harder to remove at home.
Many reasons can cause your teeth to look yellowish.
1. Smoking is the fastest way to leave stains on the surfaces of your tooth. It contains many harmful chemicals not only bad for teeth but your overall health. Many diseases can be caused by smoking.
2. Eating acidic foods like lemon and orange can erode your enamel faster and makes your teeth look yellow.
3. Drinking coffee, tea, and sodas can leave stains on your teeth over a period of time.
So follow these simple steps to whiten your teeth naturally at home using products that are easily available at home.
1. Brush and Floss regularly
Make sure you are brushing for 2 minutes, twice a day using a soft or medium bristle. Hard bristles will be more likely to injure your gums and cause them to bleed.
If you have the budget, go for an electric toothbrush. The high oscillation and vibration will help the job of cleaning your crown easier.
Brushing helps to remove food debris and plaque on the tooth surfaces and gums before they have a chance to harden into tartar.
By reducing the bacteria in the mouth, your teeth also have a better chance to remineralize naturally.
Use a toothpaste containing a suitable level of fluoride, most brands are between 1350 ppm to 1500 ppm.
Remember to floss the gaps between each and every tooth, and don’t forget the back teeth. Also floss behind the very last tooth, because that is always neglected and bad bugs could thrive there!

2. Using Ripe Strawberries
Do you love strawberries?
Not only do they contain lots of vitamins and minerals, but they also contain citric acid and malic acid. Citric acid is bad for the teeth in general but milder malic acid will compensate for that.
Eating strawberries is good for your teeth because they can remove surface stains. Do you know rubbing strawberry onto your teeth can achieve the same effect?
How to do it?
1. Mash up a strawberry. Use a ripe strawberry as the content of malic acid will be higher.
2. Dip your toothbrush in it and apply it to your teeth.
3. Brush as usual.
Results vary from person to person.
3. Using Banana Skin
Another fruit that is beneficial to your teeth besides eating it is the banana. Eating a banana is a convenient way to get your daily dose of fruits for your day.
Even though a banana contains glucose, fructose, and sucrose in levels high enough to cause tooth decay, do not avoid it all. In fact, after eating the banana, do not be quick to discard the banana skin.
You can use banana skin, the inside white part as a stain remover!
Banana contains a high level of potassium, magnesium, and manganese and these can help to remove the stain.
It is not as abrasive as store-bought whiteners, and very safe to use.
4. Chewing Apple
Apple is just about the most beneficial and mild fruit you can find. By biting into an apple, you can scrub down the plaque while chewing produces much saliva to help whiten your teeth.
So keep munching!
5. Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda
If you google “teeth whitening”, these terms baking soda and hydrogen peroxide will definitely pop up. Baking soda has been promoted for every kind of cleaning job, from scrubbing black pots to clearing choked sinks. Its a cheap and great effective cleaner.
a. If you are the more adventurous type, you may want to try hydrogen peroxide which is a mild bleach that can help to whiten stained teeth. Some users claim to see results fast.
b. For even faster whitening, you can even try brushing with a mix of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for 1–2 minutes twice a day for a week.
Many people are apprehensive using baking soda as they have heard of conflicting remarks that baking soda may not be suitable, as it is way too abrasive.
However, there are still studies that support using baking soda, such as this one.
In this study, baking soda is still considered safe for stain-removal and can help in tooth whitening.
How to do it?
Just mix lemon juice with baking soda until it becomes a paste. Then with a toothbrush, apply the paste to your teeth.
Caution: Only leave it for one minute and rinse off.
d. Baking Soda with water
Simply dissolve half a teaspoon of baking soda in water. Dab your toothbrush and brush your teeth.
6. Salt Water Solution
This is very easy to make, just add salt to warm water. Salt has antibacterial properties and can help keep your teeth clean and white.

8. Oil Pulling
Oil Pulling is a commonly practised of the ancient times where oils such as sesame oil or coconut oil have been swished in the mouth for about 20 minutes.
Coconut Oil is most popular because of its great taste and smell. It contains lauric acid which attacks harmful bacteria in the mouth that cause bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease.
9. Stop Smoking
The best way to stop further stains and to improve your overall body health is to stop smoking. Cigarettes contain nicotine and a ton of undesirable chemicals that can lead to illnesses.
The moment you stop smoking, you allow stains that were long formed to have a chance to be slowly removed.
So kick the habit and start using the above methods to whiten your teeth.
